I ask permission to leave a message on the Delaware Indian message board, since I am not of Indian descent.Last week a group of Lenni Lenape Indians came down the Delaware on a hosteling excursion to havea treaty signed in Philadelphia. There wasn't very much press about it until it happened, but the paper said this would be a yearly trip to make the Lenni-Lennape one with their roots and the River. Should this happen again, I can tell them some interesting places they may want to see, such as a small museum in Martins Creek, Pa. where they have some artifacts. while on this trip and I know people would have loved the opportunity to help them in their hostiling efforts. One book I would like to recommend that gives a wealth of information is written by Frank Dale and called "The Delaware Diary" It gives the entire history of the Indians and their plights, how they lived, when they moved and so on. If I could be of any help to you and your people to keep your heritage alive, please let me know. There was an Indian war fought near Belvidere , New Jersey, and several fields still yield arrow heads after they are plowed. People say if you dig down about 4 feet you can find Indian artifacts along the rivers edge. Again, I commend you and if I can assist you I would be happy to.
